Like so many others, my world was turned upside down by the Great Recession of 2008. After losing my cushy 9-to-5 as a marketing exec and being forced to move back home, I turned to the then burgeoning gig economy, first as a freelancer, side gigger, and even a professional gambler.

My path led to me becoming an editor at a big marketing firm, and eventually a business partner of a company that would be acquired in 2019 for eight figures. Along the way, I became a father to a beautiful baby girl named Mirabele, and thanks to my life partner Lauren, one of the best value hackers that you’ll ever meet.

You could say losing my job was the best thing that ever happened to me. You’d be right.

Hi, I’m Robert DellaFave, co-founder of Value Sleuths. While there is no shortage of great personal finance and savings sites on the Web, I’ve always longed for a site that dug deep into the data science of earning and savings — just like I do in my personal life!

Value Sleuths is on the case, thoroughly investigating side gigs, products, and services, and providing you with in-depth, data-driven analyses. We answer questions like:

At Value Sleuths, we’re all about seeking clues that lead to the best value and usage of your time. That’s why everything we write is based on real-world experience. Won’t you join us on the journey toward financial freedom?
